Back to Rome. These pictures are from December 2007.
First some wandering in the city by night:
.
.
.
Then, some suburbs. Raffo and I were around Corviale neighbourhood, so I stepped off the car to take some pictures inside the famous 1 km long building. Strange how things turned bad for this area right from the beginning and how someway they’re getting better today (for the little I’ve seen and I know) thanks to the struggle of the inhabitants.
.
.
.
More wandering around Rome:
Raffo,
and Ines.
Any translation?
.
.
.
And more huge buildings. These were near the Eur neighbourhood, along Viale del Tintoretto, just outside the window of my workplace.
I took a walk during my lunch break.
.
.
.
And finally, the double birthday party (Ernesto and I), in-da-haus.

I drove through Eur one time in 2005. I read about the architecture there and its unique history. I saw it at night and the area left a strange impression on me..so much so that I’ve been writing a short story set there (yes I’ve thought about it for the past three years!) What do you think of the neighborhood?

It can be deserted during the day sometimes, but at night it’s always so desolate, it really seems like no one inhabited the neighborhood for years, as if the buildings were just sculptures. Actually it is inhabited, though I wouldn’t live there. It lacks human scale, it’s just that it wasn’t meant to host residents, but I like it, it’s an incredible neighborhood.
I can imagine you were inspired by the place! By the way, I saw a nice film with some scenes shot there, it should be “The 10th Victim” in English (La decima vittima, in Italian).

I haven’t seen the film, but I’m sure the area gave a good futuristic impression to match the story. I can’t say that I liked the area as my memories bring back an uneasy feeling. But it was just one summer night…
